Predictions for who’s going to win The Apprentice (series five)

With 7 contestants left before Sir Alan picks his one Apprentice for their dream job, this is my prediction for how it’s gunna turn out.

Well, yesterday’s episode saw the firing of Mona, and took the number of remaining candidates down to 7. This means that normally, we have 2 more episodes of tasks, leaving us with 5 candidates for the interview process. With the exception of Series 4, the first 3 series of the Apprentice gave us 2 candidates for the final, and it’s there, in four episodes time, where we find out who’s hired.

Going by the pattern from previous years, all four previous winners for the Apprentice have been men, except for series 2 – (S1; Tim. S3; Simon. S4; Lee), and I think adding another male to this list would just to too much for Sir Alan! I also think that none of the male candidates this year really have the Lee or Simon in them to go on and win – there’s only 3 men left, and Ben is just cocky, annoying, and bound not to get along well with anyone he works with, James, while seen to be a completely nice guy, just doesn’t seem to me to have the business potential that Sir Alan needs – it’s almost as if you should be seeing him in a garage or workshop! Finally, there’s Howard, and I’d say that he probably has my bet if there’s any male going on to win.

So, by process of elimination, we have just the 4 girls left to choose from; Debra, Kate, Lorraine and Yasmina. First off, Debra, shut the hell up. I can see her at some point in the next few weeks going into the boardroom, attacking someone, similar to how Philip did in week 7, and Jennifer did in series 4, and as a result getting fired – so nearly what she did in yesterday’s episode. Next, we have Kate. I would like to say my opinion is not influenced in any way because of her ‘looks’, clearly something readers of this Yahoo poll have been influenced by! To me there seems to be something just too good about her… and it makes me wonder if she’s just managed to wiggle her way out of situations she’s got in (take for example, her relationship with Philip). It won’t surprise me if she gets to the interview stage, or even the final, but I cannot see her winning… from this point onwards I think that she will have to play a more dominant role, and when she makes a mistake, it will be noticed.

Lorraine reminds me of the ‘oh… that one…’ candidate, as often seen in the Apprentice. In Series 3 it was Katie, and Series 4 it was Lucinda – just two people who were usually right, but so much so, you wanted to wring their neck at every available opportunity. Like Kate, I predict she’ll make the interviews, but I think there will be the place she crumbles.

That leaves Yasmina, whom I’m a bit confused by. In previous episodes, I was cringing when she didn’t get fired for that monumental cock up with the sandal/cedarwood where Paula went instead. However, regardless, I’d say she has the potential to getting to the top and winning, something backed up by last night’s performance. At this early stage, someone like Yasmina, I can see going straight through the interview stage, and hammer a win.

So anyway, those are my predictions – I think it’s going to be another classic female vs. female final, something as seen in Series 2. What do you reckon? Kate vs. Yasmina? Howard vs. Kate? Howard vs. Yasmina? Only time will tell…

Update; 5 weeks later: OMG, look who just got all his predictions right! I’m amazed I’ve managed to predict all that! Well done Yasmina!
